City Continues Seeking Community Input

Department of Neighborhoods Seeking Community Input


The City of Toledo’s Department of Neighborhoods is conducting a survey to identify community needs for the next five years.  Beginning on June 2, 2014, City of Toledo citizens are encouraged to complete the survey online by visiting .  The survey will be available until July 2, 2014.  Paper copies can be obtained by calling the Department of Neighborhoods at 419-245-1400.

The survey is part of the development of the 2015-2020 Five-Year Consolidated Plan (CONPLAN) required by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in order for the City of Toledo to receive the following federal funds:

  • Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for community, economic and housing development;
  • HOME Investment Partnership (HOME) for housing development; and
  • Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) for the elimination of homelessness.

The development of the CONPLAN includes:

  • Identification of community needs in the areas of housing, neighborhood and economic development; homelessness, social  and  human services; public services, transportation/infrastructure etc;
  • Establishment of strategies to meet the needs; and,
  • Identification of funding priorities that meet HUD eligibility guidelines.

The identified funding priorities will support programs that meet the following HUD National Objectives:

  • Benefit to low- and moderate-income persons, and
  • Prevention or reduction of slum/blight.

Several public forums are scheduled throughout the city.  The public is invited to attend the forums and complete a survey.  All forums will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on the following dates and locations:
