City Enters into Salt Agreement with ODOT
On Tuesday, February 24, 2015 the City of Toledo and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) have entered into an agreement to establish procedures for the transfer of road salt from Toledo to ODOT as well as procedures for ODOT to replenish and return Toledo with all the salt quantities acquired. Per the agreement, Toledo will supply ODOT with road salt quantities up to 20,000 tons (by actual weight). Per the agreement, Toledo will be supplying ODOT salt for their own use, and to other communities in need of replenishing their salt supply.
The City of Toledo has, on-hand, 48,150 tons of salt in our supply. The City has evaluated its historic road salt usage for March as well as its salt usage for the remainder of February. We are confident that we will have a sufficient supply of salt for the rest of the 2015 winter season.
