Creating Safer Neighborhoods: Demolition of Chronic Nuisance Property

Toledo Municipal Court recently authorized the city to demolish the property at 1060 Blum Street, which will be done immediately following a media conference at the site on Wednesday, February 24 at 11 am.

Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson will join representatives from Toledo Public Schools, the City of Toledo, and residents to celebrate creating safer neighborhoods by eliminating this nuisance property, a priority project because of its close proximity to Pickett Elementary School.

The City of Toledo Department of Neighborhoods Division of Code Enforcement, working in conjunction with the Toledo Police Department filed “chronic nuisance” charges against the owner of the four-unit, single story apartment due to the deplorable conditions of the property and repeated illegal activity occurring at the address .

This collaborative approach between Toledo Public Schools, Code Enforcement and the Toledo Police Department is helping to make our city more livable and walkable.
