City of Toledo Launches Online Billing for Utility Customers
The City provided a demonstration of the new Online Billing and QuickPay programs for utility consumers today at the Kent Branch of Toledo-Lucas County Public Library. Online Billing is for account holders to view invoices and balances due, make payments, sign up for and make changes to bank plans, change contact information and “go green” with paperless billing. QuickPay was designed to provide account balances, payments received, and the ability to make "quick payments" on accounts for account holders, or anyone else, such as citizens who rent.
“QuickPay was designed to offer a modern and convenient way for utility customers, including renters, to view and pay utility bills,” said Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson, who was on hand to help present the new offering. The program was developed upon the urging of the DPU Customer Advisory Committee to offer more convenience, control and efficiency for utility customers.
DPU Director Edward A. Moore said that Online Billing was among 34 recommendations of an independent Performance Audit of the Department in 2014. Moore said the program provides more transparency, and citizens will be better able to track their consumption and know when their meters will be read in order to verify usage.
Commissioner Abby Arnold described highlights of each program and the hope that customers will be pleased to be able to “help themselves” to information 24 hours a day, although Customer Service Representatives will remain on the job during normal business hours for those who prefer to speak to a person.
Training sessions will take place this week from 10 am to 2 pm, Tuesday through Friday at the Walk-In Center at 420 Madison Avenue and at six library branches in the chart below to help community members learn about and sign up for Online Billing and/or QuickPay:
