Public Notice for EPA Grant Application

 

The City of Toledo is submitting a grant application to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) for a $600,000 Brownfield Coalition Assessment grant. If awarded, this grant will be utilized to update the local brownfield inventory, assess sites with hazardous substances and petroleum contamination, prepare risk assessments, and complete remedial action planning activities at sites within four target areas within the City of Toledo and in priority properties identified in Lucas County.

The application is due November 16, 2017 and awards will likely be announced in May 2018. The City has received 22 U.S. EPA brownfield grants worth $8.26 million since 1997, including three previous assessments grants. A draft of the application will be available for public comment and review on November 3, 2017 and comments must be submitted by November 10, 2017.
