Mayor Releases Smoke Detector Trust Fund Report
Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson made public today the Smoke Detector Trust Fund report compiled by Law Director Adam Loukx.
Key findings are:
Better purchasing controls should be in place;
Some expenditures from the Fund stretch permissible uses to the limit;
Alarm fines should more properly be placed in the General Fund as they are by definition not “trust” funds.
Mayor Hicks-Hudson will implement the recommendations provided in the report. Further, she has directed an assessment of all City of Toledo trust funds to ensure each is being used for its designated purpose.
