Hoffman Road Landfill History
The Hoffman Road facility began operation in 1975. The Division of Solid Waste submitted a plan to the Ohio EPA which will allow for an expansion of the City of Toledo's only operating landfill. The plan was approved in 1999. This added a minimum of 26 additional years of disposal capacity, servicing the residents of Toledo until at least the year 2026.
Once the landfill reaches capacity, the current plan includes development of the closed landfill into a recreational area with walking and biking trails, extensive landscaping, and large open areas for sports fields.
