18th Annual Holiday Lunch of Compassion
On Thursday, November 19, 2015, the City of Toledo Department of Neighborhoods, along with local homeless service providers held the 18th Annual Holiday Lunch of Compassion. The annual luncheon provided a holiday turkey dinner for those individuals who may be homeless and less fortunate throughout the city.
Approximately 500 participants received a nutritious meal through the Holiday Lunch of Compassion. Available on site were agencies representing social services and healthcare, such as; United Way, Pathway, Mildred Bayer, Unison Behavioral Health Group and Lucas County Regional Health District. Due to the high demand for their services from last year’s luncheon, Paul Mitchell the School Toledo provided free of charge 130 haircuts and 39 manicures on-site. Also distributed to the participants were care packs that included a hat, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, lotion, hand sanitizer, deodorant and socks from Hannah Socks.
Entertainment provided for the children included clowns – face painting, a magician, WGTE Super WHY character and coloring books.
