2018 HAB Season Ends

The City of Toledo has called an end to the 2018 harmful algal bloom season after three weeks of non-detect readings for raw lake water at the intake crib in Lake Erie and water temperatures consistently below 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

“Test results have shown non-detects at the intake crib in Lake Erie since Sept. 12 and the NOAA bulletin imagery shows no algal bloom in the western basin of Lake Erie,” Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz said.

The Drinking Water Quality Dashboard will return to the Water Treatment web page on the City of Toledo website until next season. Toledo water treatment chemists will continue daily sampling for microcystin and test the seven daily samples on Wednesdays. The results will be posted as always.
