2019 National Night Out

The Toledo Human Relations Commission is sponsoring two local “National Night Out” events from 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6 at the East Toledo Family Center, 1020 Varland Ave., and the Frederick Douglass Community Center, 1001 Indiana Ave.

National Night Out events are held across the nation the first Tuesday of August. Both locations will have a variety of fun activities, such as a basketball game, Toledo’s Got Talent Show, T-Ball, bounce houses, food, health and lead screenings, music, and opportunities to meet representatives from the Toledo Police and Toledo Fire & Rescue departments.

“National Night Out is a nationwide initiative focused on bringing neighbors together to interact with each other and safety forces through fun activities, music, and food,” said Gretchen DeBacker, Toledo legislative director. “The Human Relations Commission is looking forward to bringing this annual tradition to Toledo in order to bring our safety forces and the community together.”

The Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority and Toledo Neighborhood Block Watch will be hosting a ceremonial Light the Night event from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6. at Vistula Manor, 615 Cherry St.
