Applications Being Accepted for 15th Annual TPD Citizen Police Academy

 

The Toledo Police Department will be conducting the 15th Citizen Police
Academy. The ten (10) week session program will be conducted on consecutive Wednesday
evenings beginning October 03, 2018 through December 19, 2018.

Each session will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. and conclude at 9:00 p.m. Upon successful completion of the Citizens
Police Academy, participants will be honored with a graduation ceremony.

Applications can be obtained by contacting the Toledo Police Training Section at 419-936-3400,
or by visiting our website at toledopolice.com. Completed application forms must be submitted
to the Training Section (attention Danielle Dressel) by 4:00 p.m. on September 14, 2018.

Citizens Police Academy Participating Guidelines:
• Residents of the City of Toledo
• Over 21 years of age
• Must pass criminal history background check
• Must attend 80% of the sessions
• Must complete and submit written application form
• Participants will be selected for maximum community diversity
• Class size is limited to 25 participants

The purpose of the Toledo Citizen Police Academy is to enhance relations between the police
and the community. Any community member meeting the above stated criteria may apply to
attend the academy to learn more about policing and the department.

The success of crime prevention and detection lies primarily with a strong partnership between the police and the
community. The better we get to know each other, the more we can accomplish together.
