City of Toledo Celebrates Robert Easter, Jr. IBF Lightweight Champion of the World

Mayor Hicks-Hudson and the City of Toledo invite the entire community to celebrate our hometown hero Robert Easter, Jr. at a parade given in his honor on Sunday, October 2 at 2 pm in downtown Toledo. Mr. Easter secured the IBF Lightweight World Title in a 12-round decision against Richard Commey which was broadcast live internationally on Friday, September 9, 2016. 

The parade route will be along St. Clair to Jackson Street and culminate at One Government Center where Mr. Easter will be presented with a glass key to the City. The City is seeking floats, mobile and walking units, dance troupes, music, boxing gyms and combat sports training facilities, youth organizations and local labor unions to help celebrate this occasion. Those interested in participating may submit an application to be considered through the City of Toledo’s Facebook page or by calling the Toledo Youth Commission at 419-245-1417.

Mr. Easter will share his drive for achievement to help inspire students at Byrndale Elementary and Bowsher High Schools

Saturday, October 1, 2016, 10 am
Mr. Easter will serve as Grand Marshall for the Bowsher Homecoming Parade his alma mater 

Sunday, October 2, 2016, 2 pm
The City of Toledo will host a parade in downtown Toledo in Mr. Easter’s honor, culminating on the front steps of One Government Center, where Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson will present Robert with a Key to the City.
