Summer FunFest Finale
Friday, July 29, 2016
2 pm to 4 pm
Woodrow Wilson Park
3235 Otto Street
Members of the media are invited to join in the fun as participants in the Summer FunFest celebrate the conclusion of five weeks of youth programming in six city parks with an Extravaganza Event. Refreshments will be served while campers receive awards, Park Directors share stories, and a photographic timeline is presented.
Mayor Hicks-Hudson directed her staff to use city parks as locations to bring community programming to the neighborhoods where people live. Hicks-Hudson is a strong proponent of providing worthwhile activities to positively engage our youth and keep them on track for success. On Friday the kids will continue soccer clinics, bounce in inflatable houses, and conduct science experiments to showcase all of the fun experienced during the Summer FunFest.
Seven college interns received a grant-funded stipend to provide meaningful summer engagement for more than 250 young people from noon to 4 pm each week day.
“Summer FunFest embodies my mantra that we can accomplish much more together than we can on our own,” said Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson. Summer FunFest was developed by the Division of Parks, Recreation & Forestry in collaboration with the Toledo Youth Commission, Environmental Services, Toledo Police and Toledo Fire & Rescue Departments, Department of Public Utilities and a host of local partners, including:
