The City of Toledo (COT), Department of Neighborhoods and Business Development provides Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) dollars to various city departments/divisions that can assist the COT meet the National Objectives set by U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The departments/divisions include: (1) Code Enforcement Division, (2) Beautification Action Team (BAT), (3) Toledo Plan Commission (4) Department of Law, Housing Court Prosecutor, (5) Department of Economic and Business Development and (6) Youth & Recreation.
CODE ENFORCEMENT DIVISION
Activity: Reduce the number of nuisance code violations by enforcing Toledo ordinances pertaining to building, zoning, land development, housing, and property maintenance and by inspecting properties, issuing orders and as necessary filing criminal charges in Toledo Municipal Court.
BEAUTIFICATION ACTION TEAM (BAT)
Activity: Provide continued operation of the Beautification Action Team (BAT) through following up on nuisance orders received from the Code Enforcement Division.
TOLEDO PLAN COMMISSION
Activity: Process applications and community studies dealing with the City of Toledo Zoning Ordinance, City of Toledo Subdivision Rules and Regulations and the Toledo 20/20 Comprehensive Plan.
DEPARTMENT OF LAW, HOUSING COURT PROSECUTOR
Activity: Improve neighborhood housing conditions by prosecuting property owners who fail to comply with the Toledo Municipal Codes related to nuisance orders issued by the Code Enforcement Division.
DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Activity: Provide economic opportunities in low- and moderate-income areas to businesses and to low- and moderate income individuals through Enterprise Development Loans (EDL),Community Reinvesment Area (CRA) applications, the Land Reutilization Program, and fostering economic Technical Assistance to businesses.
YOUTH & RECREATION
Activity: Provide workforce development training in obtaining job skills and employment experience through an educational curriculum.
