We are dedicated to the effective management of Toledo’s green-spaces, and to providing programs, facilities, and opportunities to enhance the quality of life for all of our residents and visitors to Toledo.
The division is organized into 4 main operations.
Parks
- Maintenance of 125 City of Toledo parks and facilities.
- Mowing of over 400 boulevards, cul-de-sacs and green spaces.
- Weed Control service mows 75+ large, private properties in an effort to return acceptable appearance per code. Property owners are subject to an assessment for this work.
Recreation
- Maintenance of more than 50 athletic fields and facilities, which include baseball and softball diamonds and tennis courts.
- Maintenance and operation of 6 city pools.
- Operation of the Ottawa Park Ice Rink as well as shelter house rentals.
- Special seasonal programming.
Forestry
- Planting and maintaining of all trees on the public right-of-way (between sidewalk and curb), on boulevards, and in City of Toledo parks and cemeteries.
- Management of the Forestry woodlot in which tree limbs and logs are recycled into landscape mulch that is used in playgrounds in City of Toledo parks, around trees, and landscapes.
