Toledo Storm Updates

A storm traveled through Toledo yesterday evening with high winds leaving tree limbs down, and some residents without power. Residents who are medically dependent on electricity or in need of assistance of any kind should call 211. United Way can connect residents to existing resources.

POWER OUTAGES

Toledo Edison crews continue to work around the clock to clear hazards, assess damage, and make repairs to restore power to approximately 7,500 customers in Lucas County. Track status updates by specific area with Toledo Edison's online outage map

Customers should continue to report outages to Toledo Edison at 1-888- LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877). Customer-reported outages help us pinpoint the damaged locations, which can help speed restoration.

Stay far away from downed or low-hanging power lines that could be hidden in storm debris or downed trees. If you see any downed or low-hanging wire, assume it is energized and dangerous. Stay far away.

FORESTRY

City of Toledo crews are continuing with clean-up efforts. Forestry is focusing on clearing the remaining streets that are closed due to downed trees and wires. Some of our work is dependent on Edison clearing wires and poles first. All Urban Beautification crews (Blight, streetscape maintenance, etc.) are working 12-hour shifts to assist with clearing limbs and brush.

REPUBLIC SERVICE

Republic Service has power back on in their offices. They will collect bulk with normal rules.

• Wood/branches must be bundled and tied no larger than 2’ x 4’ and not heavier than 40 pounds.
• If the piles are just dragged to the curb, crews will be unable to recover safely.
• Republic Service will recover on the normal bulk day. (Please call them if possible)
• No special runs can be done at this time due to the power outage Republic Services experienced

Clean Toledo Drop-Off Refuse and Recycling Event at Epworth United Methodist Church, 4855 W Central Ave. on Saturday, July 29 will accept the following items from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.:

• electronic waste (including TV’s and CRT TV’s and monitors)
• up to 10 tires, on or off the rim, but no commercial tires
• document shredding and recycling
• household hazardous waste
• styrofoam
• residential yard waste
• recycling - houseware goods, clothing, toys bulky items, cardboard, and refuse.
• latex paint is accepted free of charge
• scrap metal
• bulky items and refuse including large appliances, air conditioning units,
• refrigerators/freezers will be accepted.
