Join us for “Keys to Lead-Safe Living,” a free, informational fair designed to help both landlords and tenants understand their roles in creating and maintaining safe, healthy homes.
This event will coincide with National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (October 19–25) and supports the City of Toledo’s #LeadSafeToledo initiative to end childhood lead poisoning through education and enforcement.
Why it Matters
It only takes lead the size of a grain of salt to poison a child. In partnership with Toledo Lead Resource Center, The Fair Housing Center, Toledo Lead Poisoning Prevention Coalition, and the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department, this event will give both landlords and tenants clear steps to make their homes safer.
What to Expect
Lunch will be provided for all attendees.
- Landlords will meet in the McMaster Center (2nd Floor) to learn about:
- compliance with Toledo's lead-safe ordinance
- lead disclosure requirements
- how to identify common lead hazards in rental properties
- Tenants will meet in the Small Glass Room (1st Floor) to learn how to:
- spot lead hazards
- practice lead-safe living
- access local resources
The first 50 tenants to arrive will receive a free lead-safe cleaning kit ($90 value).
