Toledo Fire & Rescue Fire Class #293

On Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 7 a.m., 47 fire recruits will report to the Toledo Fire & Rescue Training Academy on the Scott Park Campus to begin day one of an approximate six month fire academy that includes fourteen weeks of fire training followed by ten weeks of training to become Emergency Medical Technicians.

The 47 recruits reporting Wednesday make up the most diverse fire class Toledo Fire & Rescue Department has had in sometime including 6 females (4 African American, 2 Caucasian) and 41 males, (1 American Indian, 4 Hispanic, 8 African American, 28 Caucasian).

“We are very proud of the diversity and make-up of this fire class,” Fire Chief Brian Byrd said. “We will continue to strive to reflect the community of which we serve.”
