Global Youth Service Day Cleanup Planned

Friday, April 12, 2019

Global Youth Service Day is Saturday, April 13 in Toledo. Numerous activities are planned throughout the city to clean up and beautify our community with hundreds of volunteers participating. As a follow up to the partnership developed between Toledo Refining Company, Mercy Health, the city of Toledo, and the East Toledo Family Center for the revitalization of Navarre Park, volunteers will gather for a Global Youth Service Day Clean up event at Navarre Park starting at 9 a.m.

“Toledo Refining Company and Mercy Health are amazing examples of what public-private partnership can look like and should be replicated throughout the city in the future to improve our neighborhoods,” said Councilman Ujvagi. “These two companies are providing more than 125 volunteers for this event.”

Navarre Park is a gateway park for the East Toledo community. With the huge clean up event, the much needed infrastructure improvements planned for Navarre Park, and the many new initiatives on the riverfront, Main Street, and the residential development, we will be working to revitalize the rest of the East Toledo Community.

Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz, community activists, and Muddy the Mud Hen will kick off the event at 9 a.m., in front of the East Toledo Senior Center, 1001 White St.
