Stepping into Fiber + Strand is like walking into an art gallery rather than a hair salon. Located in historic Fort Industry Square, this new downtown business is luxurious. The exposed brick walls, grand windows which overlook the Maumee River, and open ceilings create an atmosphere of elegance and class. Owner and stylist Janelle Jared enlists a talented team of elite “artists” who are dedicated to making every guest feel relaxed, renewed, refreshed and beautiful.

Why did you decide to open Fiber + Strand downtown?
I've always had a love affair with downtown. I lived downtown when I was in my early twenties and it's been really fun just to see everything grow and change. I got really excited when I saw that somebody was rehabbing this building. It's such a beautiful space. I feel like it's been underutilized for years, so yeah, that's kind of what brought me down here. I’m so happy to be contributing to the revitalization of downtown Toledo. Clients can come and have their hair done here and then afterwards head out to a wine bar or have dinner at a downtown restaurant.

How is Fiber + Strand different from other salons?
As a hairstylist and salon owner, I have always been passionate about helping people feel confident and beautiful in their own skin. At Fiber + Strand, we take pride in providing our clients with the highest quality hair extensions and color that are customized to their unique needs and preferences. We understand that everyone's hair is different, and we strive to ensure that our guests leave our salon feeling confident and beautiful. What sets my salon apart is that we curate a unique and elevated experience. We offer custom coffees, or a glass of rosé, if you prefer. Our guests cannot get over how comfortable our shampoo bowls are. Add a heated towel and our signature scalp massage and you may never want to get up! If your appointment goes long, we have a variety of snacks for you to choose from. It's not just getting your hair done, it's the entire experience from the second you walk in the door. We really enjoy caring for our guests while they are in our space.

What do you see in the future for Fiber + Strand?
As we continue to grow, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our exclusive bridal service on Saturdays. Bridal parties will have the entire space to themselves, ensuring a private and intimate experience. We will also be expanding our team of highly skilled and dedicated stylists who are passionate about their craft and dedicated to achieving perfection for every guest through our mentorship programs. I truly believe in the importance of continuing education and growth in the industry.
