Brandon Sehlhorst Honored as 2024 Economic Developer of the Year by Ohio Economic Development Association
The City of Toledo is proud to announce that Brandon Sehlhorst, Director of Economic Development, has been named the 2024 Economic Developer of the Year by the Ohio Economic Development Association (OEDA). This prestigious award recognizes Sehlhorst’s exceptional contributions to economic growth and his unwavering commitment to the betterment of Toledo and the surrounding region.
Throughout his tenure with the City of Toledo, Sehlhorst has demonstrated a profound impact on the local and regional economy through a series of transformative projects. His leadership has been instrumental in the redevelopment of the former North Towne Mall site into the largest available industrial space in the city, attracting significant investments and job opportunities.
Additionally, Sehlhorst’s work on the former Southwyck Mall site led to its transformation into an Amazon delivery station, bringing 400 jobs and a $25 million investment to the community.
Sehlhorst has also spearheaded efforts that secured a $52.9 million USDOT RAISE Grant to improve walkability and neighborhood continuity and a $28 million grant for the RIVER East Toledo project, aimed at enhancing quality of life and strengthening neighborhood connections.
Under his leadership, the Vibrancy Initiative has flourished, investing in 62 projects that leveraged over $80 million in private sector investments, supporting existing businesses, attracting new ones, and creating numerous jobs.
Sehlhorst actively engages with residents, ensuring that economic development in Toledo is inclusive and equitable. His work is a reflection of his dedication to the city's growth and prosperity. Sehlhorst’s ability to anticipate future trends, adapt to evolving economic landscapes, and introduce innovative ideas has solidified his reputation as a visionary leader in the field of economic development.
