Mayor Kapszukiewicz Waves the Checkered Flag on 2026 Residential Road Construction Season, Unrolls Quarter-Percent Roads Levy Results

Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz was joined by Toledo City Councilwoman Theresa Morris to wave the checkered flag marking the end of the 2026 residential road construction season during a press conference. The Mayor also unfurled a scroll highlighting the results of the quarter-percent income tax dedicated to road improvements since 2021.
In 2026, the City resurfaced 111 residential streets, totaling 43.12 lane miles. Since 2021, the City has resurfaced 649 residential streets, totaling 267.61 lane miles, through its dedicated road funding.
The results represent an unprecedented level of investment in Toledo’s neighborhood streets, made possible by Toledo voters.
The quarter-percent tax has allowed the City to deliver on its commitment to repair more neighborhood streets, improving daily travel and making roads safer and more reliable for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
These improvements also help residents reach local businesses and services while giving neighborhoods more reasons to take pride in their communities.
“When we asked Toledo voters to support a quarter-percent tax dedicated to roads, we committed to doing more, and we have delivered. Since 2021, we have resurfaced 649 residential streets, totaling more than 267 lane miles. That is an unprecedented amount of work on neighborhood streets, made possible by Toledoans who voted to invest in their city," Mayor Kapszukiewicz said.
"Better roads make daily travel easier and safer for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. They help people get to work, reach local businesses and take pride in their neighborhoods. This is what investing in Toledo looks like.”
