Who to Call for Dog Concerns in Toledo

Whether you’ve lost a dog, found one, or have a concern in your neighborhood, here’s who to contact depending on the situation.

Loose, Lost, and Found Dogs

If you found a dog running loose or if your own pup has made an escape, contact:

Report Possible Abuse or Neglect

If you suspect a dog is being mistreated, kept in unsafe conditions, or neglected, contact the Humane Society:

Barking Dogs

Is a neighbor’s dog barking a lot? Unnecessary, excessive or offensive noise means any offensive sound or noise which annoys, disturbs, injures or endangers the comfort, repose, health, peace or safety of others; or a noise level which exceeds the fixed source noise level for the zone by 10 dbA or more, when measured at the nearest property line.

Dangerous or Aggressive Dog

If a dog attack is in progress, call 911 immediately.

If you’ve been attacked by a dog, you should seek medical assistance as soon as possible. Dog bites can contain bacteria that can turn into dangerous infections quickly. Dog bites should be reported to Lucas County Canine Care & Control for investigation.

Dog Licenses

Ohio law requires that all dogs over 3 months old be licensed. Licenses must be renewed annually between December 1 and January 31,. Licensing your dog helps ensure they get home safely if lost—and it’s the law.
