Planting Thousands of Trees and Watching Their Impact Grow.
The primary goal of RE-TREE Toledo is to restore, expand, and protect urban trees and forests, with a particular focus on increasing tree canopy in neighborhoods where it is needed most.
We are planting trees over the next four years, including street trees, trees in parks, and trees on residential or commercial property, and publicly owned vacant lots. All of the project's trees will be allocated toward areas of highest need to close the tree equity gap, direcctly benefitting 83,000 residents.
Cooling Canopies for Toledo's Neighborhoods and Streets
You might not expect it, but extreme heat causes more illness and loss of life than any other type of weather. RE-TREE Toledo will plant thousands of trees over the next four years in areas of greatest need. Shade from tree canopies will contribute to cooler, healthier neighborhoods in a variety of ways.
