Mayor Kapszukiewicz Waves the Green Flag to Kick Off 2025 Residential Road Construction Season

Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz waved a green flag on 113th Street today, officially launching the City of Toledo’s 2025 residential road construction season. The North Toledo location marks the start of one of the most extensive residential road reconstruction projects slated for this year.
District 6 Council Member Theresa Morris and City Council Member Nick Komives, Chair of the Mobility, Sustainability and Beautification Committee, joined the Mayor to highlight the city’s continued investment in neighborhood infrastructure.
The 113th Street project involves a full road reconstruction in North Toledo, one of the most significant residential infrastructure efforts scheduled for this year.
As part of the work, crews will replace 1,720 feet of water main, including the installation of new hydrants, valves, and water service lines. The project will also include the installation of a new sanitary sewer system improving Toledo’s streets and utility infrastructure.
Above ground, pedestrian curb ramps will be added or upgraded to improve accessibility, new sidewalks will be constructed where none currently exist, and existing curbs and drive aprons will be replaced.
This work is part of a larger citywide initiative aimed at improving Toledo’s streets and underground systems.
Highlights of the 2025 Residential Road Construction Program include:
More than 42 lane miles of residential streets scheduled for improvement
An additional 16 lane miles of major roads to be resurfaced
30 lane miles to receive patch and seal treatments
Supported by a $25 million budget
As part of Toledo’s commitment to Vision Zero and safer, more connected neighborhoods, we’re installing new midblock crossings this year—primarily near parks—to make it easier and safer for pedestrians to cross the street. These designated crossings reduce jaywalking by giving people safer, more visible places to cross, which helps prevent accidents and improves traffic flow across the city.
"We’re focused on enhancing safety, accessibility, and quality of life across Toledo neighborhoods," Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz said. "This investment reflects our commitment to ensuring that every resident has access to well-maintained, safe roads, helping to build a stronger, more connected City."
