City and University of Toledo Launch 2026 Veo E-Scooter Season

Monday, March 09, 2026

The City of Toledo, in partnership with the University of Toledo and Veo, launched the 2026 shared e-scooters program at UToledo’s Centennial Mall. Riders can use the code SPRING26 for $5 in ride credit, which is currently active. The program gives residents convenient, affordable, and sustainable transportation throughout the city.

In 2025, Veo riders took 253,000 trips, using the service to connect to work, school, public transit, and local businesses. Survey results showed that Veo helped residents reduce car travel, increase mobility for those without a car, and stay safely connected to their city.

Many trips in Toledo, like in other U.S. cities, are short distances that work well for shared e-scooters. Veo data shows that riders are using micromobility to replace car trips, improve connections to public transit, and reach destinations more efficiently.

"Micromobility is no longer just a novelty. It is a practical transportation option that helps residents get around safely, affordably, and efficiently," Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz said. "Veo supports access to jobs, schools, and local businesses while helping reduce car trips and improve livability in Toledo."

"Veo provides our students and campus community with a flexible and affordable way to get around campus and Toledo quickly, and with reduced carbon emissions relative to a car,” Dr. James Holloway, president of UToledo, said. “We are proud to partner with the City and Veo. Every time we deepen our integration with Toledo, we make both the University and the City stronger.”

Veo’s 2025 data shows strong engagement and consistent service availability:
• Average daily e-scooter deployment was 810 vehicles across the city.
• Cosmo e-scooters averaged 694 vehicles deployed daily.
• Riders took a total of 253,000 trips covering 484,506 miles, averaging 7 minutes and 1.47 miles per ride.
• Membership programs supported 1,540 Veo Plus riders, 219 Veo Access riders, and 500 Veo Commuter riders.
• Veo Access riders took 8,553 rides and Veo Plus riders took 66,687 rides.

In 2025, riders reported:

• 52% did not own a car and 52% did not have a driver’s license
• 67% reduced car travel
• 43% used Veo to connect with public transit
• 59% agreed Veo made it easier to live in Toledo
• 52% visited local businesses more often because of Veo
• 67% felt safe or very safe riding

The data also shows why people choose micromobility: convenience, cost savings, and accessibility. Many riders are drawn to e-scooters because they are faster than walking, easier to park than cars, and help bridge gaps in public transit. Affordability programs, like student and low income discounts, make it possible for nondrivers and car free residents to get around independently.

"In Toledo, shared scooters are extending the reach of public transit and helping residents get to jobs, school, and local businesses more efficiently," Candice Xie, co-founder and CEO of Veo, said. "Last season we introduced new passes that reduced costs for riders, and we are proud to partner with the City and UToledo to continue expanding affordable access this year."

Riders are encouraged to follow traffic laws, yield to pedestrians, wear helmets, park vehicles upright in designated areas, and use the Veo app to unlock, ride, and end trips.

The City, UToledo, and Veo will continue working together to provide safe, accessible, and environmentally friendly transportation while encouraging responsible riding habits.

Veo's staff of in-house fleet technicians are on the ground every day swapping out depleted e-scooter batteries, correcting improperly parked vehicles, and moving vehicles to areas of high demand. If a member of the community comes across an improperly parked scooter before Veo's team does, we invite them to call 855-836-2256 or email hello@veoride.com. Please provide the vehicle’s address and if possible, the vehicle number located in between the handlebars.
