Facing an Eviction?

The Right to Counsel program is part of Toledo's ongoing effort to protect the rights of the nearly 50% of residents who rent their homes. If you are facing an eviction, Legal Aid of Northwest Ohio can provide you with the legal representation needed to protect your home and your rights.

Rental Assistance

Applications will be accepted through the end of the year. Eligible households can receive up to 15 months of assistance, including current and future rent, past due rent, late fees, new renter fees, security deposits, utility deposits, and utility payments.

Water Bills

Our water department contracts for services only with property owners verified by the Lucas County Auditor’s Office. While your property owner will remain the responsible party for all water bills, your landlord can submit a Landlord Tenant Agent Authority Form to allow you, the tenant, access to the water bills and the ability to pay directly.

Discrimination

Fair housing laws protect you from discrimination and ensure that you are afforded an equal opportunity to rent the housing of your choice. The Fair Housing Center can help if you feel you may have been a victim of housing discrimination.

A landlord cannot refuse to make a reasonable accommodation in policy, practice, rule and/or service that will allow a person with a disability to fully use a rental unit. The Ability Center of Greater Toledo has resources available to tenants who may need help with accommodations or legal support.
