What is a Business Retention & Expansion Visit?
A Business Retention & Expansion (BR&E) visit is designed to support the companies that call Toledo home by connecting them with partners, resources, and solutions to address challenges and support long-term growth and investment.
A BR&E visit is a good fit if your business is:

- Hiring additional employees
- Investing in equipment or facilities
- Experiencing workforce challenges
- Having permitting or infrastructure issues

How can a visit help your business?
A BR&E visit creates a direct line of communication between your business and the City of Toledo. Businesses receive a high level of service, confidentiality, and access to a wide range of resources. Your feedback also helps shape how the City improves policies, programs, and services to better support Toledo’s business community.
Through BR&E visits, the City can:

- Resolve infrastructure and city-service challenges

How does a BR&E visit work?
- Request a visit.
- Meet with our Economic Development team at your business.
- We identify opportunities and connect you with resources.
- We follow up until issues are resolved.
What can a business owner expect in a BR&E visit?
Meetings are typically held at your place of business, at a time most convenient for your team, and often include a tour of the facility to help us better understand your operations.
With your permission, partners from state and regional economic development organizations may join to provide additional resources. Information shared during the visit is confidential among those in attendance.
Following the visit, we will coordinate any resources, solutions, or introductions identified during the meeting and remain available for continued communication and future meetings as needed.
