Toledo-Lucas County Rental Assistance Application Help Available

Tuesday, September 07, 2021

Residents who have started to apply for the Toledo-Lucas County Rental Assistance Program, and need help completing the application, may attend a session from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 928 Berdan Ave. The deadline to apply was Sept. 1. No new applications will be initiated.

The session will be held at the offices of LaPlante Real Estate, which owns and manages hundreds of units in Toledo. During the application period, the company owner, Josh Bowen, instructed his staff to pause all evictions to allow for eligible residents to apply for the Toledo-Lucas County Rental Assistance Program. Mr. Bowen offered his office to provide assistance to his tenants and to any Toledo resident who needs help completing the application and upload missing documentation.

Toledo and Lucas County were allocated $11,507,996 in federal funding for direct rental assistance to benefit income-eligible tenants. More than $2.2 million has already been disbursed toward rent and utility payments. There are more than 1,800 completed applications in various stages of review, and more than 4,000 additional submitted applications in progress. The program assists low- to moderate-income households in the city and county with up to 12 months emergency rental assistance.
