Mayor Kapszukiewicz Swears-In New Toledo Police Chief Michael Troendle in Ceremony
Mayor Kapszukiewicz officiated the swearing-in of the 41st Toledo Police Chief, Michael Troendle, this afternoon in City Council Chambers. Lt. Michael Kurjan welcomed attendees with opening remarks followed by a moving rendition of the National Anthem sung by Ashley Hill. The honor guard procession and Chaplain Bill Lucas' invocation set the tone for the ceremony, emphasizing the department's mission to protect and serve the community.
The audience heard from Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz and Safety Director Brian Byrd, who both emphasized the importance of the Toledo Police Department's role in the community and its commitment to public safety and building trust with residents.
“I have never been more proud of any decision I have made as mayor. Chief Troendle has brought results and that is the only metric I care about. Congratulations on this day and I look forward to continued results,” Mayor Kapszukiewicz said.
Mayor Kapszukiewicz administered the Oath of Allegiance to Chief Troendle, who then addressed the crowd expressing his gratitude and commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability.
“My brothers and sisters in blue, you mean the world to me. I am here to support you. I am here to make sure that you guys have everything you need to succeed in this job,” Chief Troendle said.
