80 New Trees to be Planted on Waverly Avenue
The City of Toledo, Division of Urban Beautification - Forestry Operations is excited to announce a grant award from the Arbor Day Foundation in partnership with local corporate sponsor Linde. This grant will support the planting of eighty (80) street trees in the public right of way for the 900 - 1200 block of Waverly Avenue as part of the Waverly Tree Canopy Expansion Project.
On November 15th, twenty volunteers from Linde will come together to plant a diverse selection of tree species, including:
- Fall Fiesta Maple
- Celebration Maple
- Ivory Silk
- Red Oak
- Zelkova
- Black Tupelo
- Honeylocust
- Sargent Cherry
“Trees are important drivers of quality of life in our neighborhoods,” Mayor Kapszukiewicz said. “The Waverly Tree Canopy Expansion Project is a significant step towards creating a greener, more sustainable Toledo.”

The Arbor Day Foundation, established in 1972, is the world's largest membership nonprofit organization dedicated to tree planting.
