Wednesday, June 21 at 12:30 p.m.

The City of Toledo is pleased to announce that city crews have completed clearing major roadways and rights-of-way of fallen trees, branches, and debris. Power has been restored to all but 5 customers in Lucas County. All major roadways are now fully open to public traffic.

City and Republic Services crews will be completing trash collection and bulk pickup today and tomorrow. Residents can haul debris to the curb for pickup. Follow the guidelines on separating debris to assist with collection of materials. Collection may take longer than usual due to the quantity of items to be removed.

Many thanks to the concerted efforts of various departments, community partners, and the assistance of elected officials at the county, state, and federal levels. The City of Toledo extends its deepest gratitude to all the dedicated crews involved in the recovery and cleanup process.

Power Outages

Toledo Edison crews have made steady progress working through treacherous conditions to clear hazards and assess storm damage. They have restored power to more than 10,000 customers in the Toledo area impacted by last night's EF-2 tornado. With the help of crews from sister electric companies and contractor crews, they continue to work 24/7 to restore power to about 7,000 customers who remain without power in the hardest-hit areas, including Point Place.

Throughout the day today, crews have identified more than 70 broken poles and hundreds of broken crossarms. Much of this equipment is inaccessible by bucket trucks, which will require line workers to walk to each location and manually climb to make repairs - this can be very time consuming.

At this time, we expect to have power restored to the majority of impacted customers by late Tuesday night. We will provide restoration updates for specific locations on this outage map as they become available.

Friday, June 16 at 4 p.m.

A tornado touched down in Point Place last night around 6:30 p.m. The Lucas County Emergency Management Agency is working with the National Weather Service to perform a damage assessment of affected areas to identify the footprint and the classification of the tornado.

Fortunately, there have been no injuries or fatalities reported at this time. However, the damage caused is quite severe and cleanup efforts will take some time.

Residents should stay safe and avoid cleanup and unnecessary travel until all power lines have been repaired. If a line is down or damaged, assume it is live. Stay far away.

Residents in need of assistance of any kind should call 211. United Way can connect residents to existing resources and will be helping the city inventory additional unmet needs over the weekend.

Residents who are able to volunteer time to help in anyway should also call 211. Call takers will collect your contact information and more information on ways to help will be available in the coming days.

Power Outages

Toledo Edison crews continue working around the clock to clear hazards, assess damage, and make repairs to restore power to 7,800 customers, particularly in the hardest-hit sections of Toledo including Point Place. Crews are still assessing the damage to determine a timeframe in which power will be fully restored.

Currently, there are hundreds of damage locations, consisting of broken poles, downed power lines, and fallen trees and debris blocking road access. We have more than 50 broken poles and downed power lines. About 5,300 customers without power are impacted by damage to two circuits, so that's where restoration efforts are focused today with the help of crews from contractors and our sister electric companies.

Customers should continue to report outages to Toledo Edison at 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877). Customer reported outages help us pinpoint the damage locations, which can help speed restoration.

Please use caution if you must go outdoors. Stay far away from downed or low-hanging power lines that could be hidden in storm debris or downed trees. If you see any downed or low-hanging wire, assume it is energized and dangerous. Stay far away.
