Traffic Alert: Huron & Erie Conversion
Wednesday, October 23, 2024
Huron St. and Erie St. (from Cherry St. to Bush St.) are being converted from one-way to two-way traffic and the speed will be reduced from 35 mph to 25 mph.
This will make it easier to get into and out of downtown and reducing speed will make both streets safer for pedestrians and bicyclists.
City crews will begin the conversion on Huron on Thursday, October 24.
City crews anticipate beginning the conversion on Erie the first week of November.
This conversion will be implemented through new striping, signals, and signs that indicate the road is open to two-way traffic.
The impact should be minimal. Crews will work block to block from Cherry St. to Bush St. and should complete each street's conversion within a single working day.
