New Water Bill Payment Kiosk Unveiled
Leaders from the City of Toledo Department of Public Utilities gathered today to cut the ribbon on a brand-new payment kiosk, located at the corner of Madison Avenue and St. Clair Street. This new self-service option gives customers another convenient way to pay their utility bills—part of a broader effort to modernize payment options and meet customers where they are.
The kiosk is one of several new services introduced over the past year, including the launch of the MyTOL Customer Portal, a mobile app, an improved pay-by-mail system, and one-time payment options that allow customers to pay with cash at retail locations or digitally through Venmo, PayPal, or a card. A second kiosk is also available at the city’s Scott Park Police Station.
“These improvements are about flexibility, convenience, and putting more control in the hands of our customers,” said Doug Stephens, Director of Public Utilities. “We’re proud to make it easier than ever to manage your utility account in ways that fit your lifestyle.”
As new options have grown, use of traditional in-person payment methods has steadily declined. The city also announced that it will retire two legacy payment methods in the coming weeks:
The Customer Walk-In Center will stop accepting payments after May 9, 2025. It will be repurposed into a Customer Resource Center, open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, through December 31, 2025. Staff will be available to help customers learn and transition to new payment methods.
The outdoor payment dropbox near the walk-in center will also be retired, with the last day to use it set for June 29, 2025. Customers are encouraged to use the nearby kiosk, the Scott Park Police Station kiosk, or any of the city’s other payment options.
“These changes reflect our commitment to improving service and investing in modern solutions that work for our customers,” said Stephens. “We’re making it easier, faster, and more convenient to manage your utility account—whether you prefer paying on your phone, at a kiosk, by mail, or in your neighborhood store."
