Improving the Lower Ottawa Nearshore Aquatic Habitat

The City of Toledo received $400,000 to design and create instream habitat in the nearshore area of the Ottawa River, adjacent to Harry Kessler Park. The grant period is October 1, 2024, to March 30, 2026. The restored river habitat conditions will address fish populations, benthic populations, and the fish habitat beneficial use impairments in the area.

Students and teachers at the Ottawa River Elementary School are direct beneficiaries of the project, but so are those who live, recreate, and work in the greater Toledo area.
