We are an educational, advocacy, and compliance agency.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion facilitates economic growth and development of businesses by and for members of underrepresented populations; addresses and reduces the complaints filed regarding harassment and discrimination on the basis of protected class status; and ensures access to facilities and programs owned and operated by the city for people with disabilities.
The Department of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion was originally created in July 1988 as the Office of Affirmative Action/Contract Compliance to administer the City of Toledo's Affirmative Action and Contract Compliance Programs. On July 19, 2022, the name was changed to the Department of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. This department operates under the jurisdiction of the Mayor.
