FAQs

What is happening to SNAP benefits?

Monthly SNAP benefits are temporarily paused beginning November 1, 2025. Benefits will be fully restored once the federal government shutdown has ended.

Do I need to use up the money I have?

No, the money on your card will not be taken away. You can continue to use your card as long as you have money left. The pause means that no new money will be added to your balance.

Will my SNAP card continue to work after Nov. 1?

Yes, your card will continue to work as long as you have money available. You shouldn't be turned away from any store for attempting to use your card. The card will work as normal until your funds are used up.

Is WIC impacted?

No, WIC will continue to operate as normal. New applications for WIC can be submitted through the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department.

Where can I go to get more help?

Different meal sites and food pantries have different requirements. Some meal programs are only for kids or seniors. Some food pantries have income or locations restrictions. If you need help finding a place that's right for you, call 2-1-1 or text your zip code to 898211.
