Fire Inspectors are responsible for reviewing fire protection system installations, performing final occupancy inspections, and overseeing system testing. This includes:

• Verifying contractor compliance with licensing and registration
• Ensuring underground fire service mains and hydrants are properly installed
• Conducting inspections for licensing by agencies such as daycare centers and healthcare facilities

Note: Final occupancy inspections are performed before a Certificate of Occupancy is issued.

Plan Review

Before fire protection systems are installed or modified, plans must be reviewed by our examiners.

Systems:

• Fire alarm and detection
• Sprinklers and standpipes
• Commercial kitchen hood suppression
• Clean agent suppresion
• Fire pumps
• Underground fire service mains and private fire hydrants (with Water Division)

Special Hazards:

• Emergency responder communication systems
  
• Above ground flammable or combustible liquids storage
• Compressed gas storage and installations
• Cryogenic fluid storage and use
• Gates or barricades acrosss fire access roads

Note: Underground flammable/combustible tand installations are reviewed and permitted by the Ohio State Fire Marshal, not the City of Toledo.
