Fire Inspectors are responsible for reviewing fire protection system installations, performing final occupancy inspections, and overseeing system testing. This includes:
- Verifying contractor compliance with licensing and registration
- Ensuring underground fire service mains and hydrants are properly installed
- Conducting inspections for licensing by agencies such as daycare centers and healthcare facilities
Note: Final occupancy inspections are performed before a Certificate of Occupancy is issued.
Plan Review
Before fire protection systems are installed or modified, plans must be reviewed by our examiners.
Systems:
- Fire alarm and detection
- Sprinklers and standpipes
- Commercial kitchen hood suppression
- Clean agent suppresion
- Fire pumps
- Underground fire service mains and private fire hydrants (with Water Division)
Special Hazards:
- Emergency responder communication systems
- Above ground flammable or combustible liquids storage
- Compressed gas storage and installations
- Cryogenic fluid storage and use
- Gates or barricades acrosss fire access roads
Note: Underground flammable/combustible tand installations are reviewed and permitted by the Ohio State Fire Marshal, not the City of Toledo.
