City Crews Continue Flood Control

Sunday, April 15, 2018

City of Toledo crews have worked throughout the weekend into today to combat flooding, especially in Point Place.

As the wind continue to blow from the east, Point Place continues to be threatened.

City crews placed pumps to send water back into the lake as it blows over the break wall in certain areas. Sandbags have also been placed in areas they are needed.

We continue to monitor flood gates in Point Place very closely.

“Everyone knows Lake Erie is supposed to drain out by going over Niagara Falls, Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz said. “With a persistent northeast wind like this it drains into Toledo. We are working tirelessly to help home and business owners.”

The water is slowly receding as the wind dies down. The water should be pushed back into the lake as the wind changes direction.
