Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz today will travel to Boston to attend the U.S. Conference of Mayors 86th Annual Meeting. It will be presided over by Columbia, SC Mayor Steve Benjamin and is hosted by Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh. Nearly 250 mayors from across the country will attend the four-day event to discuss issues such as water infrastructure, neighborhoods, housing, immigration, health care, the national economy, climate protection, technology, and safety.

“This is a great opportunity for us to network and to learn what other cities are doing to improve the quality of life for their constituents and bring those lessons back to Toledo,” Mayor Kapszukiewicz said.

Legislative Director Gretchen DeBacker and Deputy Chief of Staff Karen Poore accompanied the mayor to Boston to attend the event.

The U.S. Conference of Mayors is the official nonpartisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more. There are nearly 1,400 such cities in the country and each city is represented in the Conference by its chief elected official, the mayor.
