Mayor Kapszukiewicz Statement On Toledo Lead Safe Law Preliminary Injunction Granted Today

Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz released the following statement today regarding a preliminary injunction granted by Lucas County Common Pleas Court Judge Linda Jennings related to the Toledo Lead Safe Law:

“Everyone can agree that there is nothing more important than the safety of our children, and it was that sentiment that motivated the passage of this ordinance,” Mayor Kapszukiewicz said. “We cannot ignore how difficult it has been to enforce. While this ordinance is on hold, the city law department will evaluate our legal options, and my administration we will continue to work with Toledo City Council, the Toledo Lead Poisoning Prevention Coalition, the health department, and others to ensure the city of Toledo safeguards children from lead poisoning and gets this correct.”
