Meter Readings during COVID-19

The Toledo Department of Public Utilities, under the advisement of the U.S. EPA and Ohio EPA, is not collecting inside meter readings at this time, but we are continuing to collect all radio transmitter reads, which account for 47 percent of the approximately 120,000 meters.

A large portion of our customers will receive estimated reads during the COVID-19 crisis. We encourage those customers to review their bill and report actual meter readings to ensure the estimates are as accurate as possible.

How often will my meter be read?

Customers should usually anticipate two monthly estimates and then an actual read to “true up” the account every three months. Actual remote and inside meter readings are suspended as we work to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
