Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz Declares State of Emergency

Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz today announced that a state of emergency exists in the city of Toledo. The mayor has begun to exercise emergency powers as outlined in the city charter. Among these powers is the ability to impose a curfew, to order a quarantine as needed, to procure items necessary for the safety and welfare of the residents, and to grant or waive certain permits as necessary.

The only of these powers the mayor has exercised thus far is procurement, which was used to purchase equipment necessary for employees to work remotely. The mayor communicated to Toledo City Council that he has begun exercising the emergency powers, as required by city charter.
