City Staff Deliver Meals and Care Packages to Service Providers

Thursday, November 18, 2021

The Department of Housing and Community Development has hosted an annual Thanksgiving luncheon for homeless service providers for more than 20 years. This year, in lieu of an in-person lunch, staff delivered care packages and food to be distributed at these 14 locations:

  • St. Paul’s Community Center
  • Beach House
  • The Sparrow’s Nest
  • Family House
  • The Cherry Street Revitalization Center
  • YWCA
  • Aurora Project, Inc.
  • Naomi Transitional Housing
  • Rebekah’s Haven
  • Toledo Gospel Rescue
  • La Posada
  • Bethany House
  • Wernert’s Center
  • Helping Hands

The care packages consisted of masks, socks, gloves, toiletry items, hand sanitizer, boxes of feminine products, and other items clients often need as we approach the winter months.

The event was organized by Bonita Bonds, Commissioner of Administrative Services, and supported by staff from the division including Melody Bell, Monica Brown, Morlon Harris, Zachary Lohman, Regina Phillips, and Jon Sherer.

Food for the event was donated by the Toledo Seagate Food Bank, and prepared by Mr. James McDay from We Be Ribs. Mr. McDay prepared and delivered 30 turkeys and 25 hams! These two partners have made this event possible through their support for the last 20 years.
