The City of Toledo Announced Additional $19.4 Million for Emergency Rental Assistance Program

Wednesday, March 30, 2022

Due to the successful distribution of $14,333,272.77 in direct assistance ERA 1 and ERA 2 Rental Assistance funds to more than 2,564 households adversely impacted by COVID-19, the U.S. Department of the Treasury has reallocated funding from the State of Ohio to Toledo in the amount of $19,409,830.00 to aid more families. The average household assistance amount is $5,590.20 and the average months of rent paid is 7.15.

“We are thrilled to receive this additional funding, especially since it is a direct result from the success of our efforts to get aid to families in need during the first two rounds of funding,” Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz said. “The City of Toledo is committed to making sure that residents who are at risk for homelessness, or have housing instability, are helped financially so that they can stay in their homes.”

“This additional funding awarded to the City of Toledo is critical for families who are still suffering under the weight of unpaid rent due to the traumatic effects of COVID-19,” Director Rosalyn Clemens, Department of Housing and Community Development, said. “We are grateful for our City of Toledo TLCERAP team and partnerships with NeighborWorks, Lutheran Social Services, and Pathway, who have worked tirelessly to get the funds to our residents in need.”

The portal will be open starting today, March 30th and will remain open for 30 days. If you have already received assistance from or started an application with TLCERAP you should use your original application to access the portal. The program details can be found here.

The Department of Housing and Community Development will be hosting Emergency Rental Technical Assistance events at local libraries for information:
