Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz Responds to the Passage of the 2024 Budget
Toledo City Council unanimously approved today the 2024 operating and capital budgets totaling $970.1 million.
“With strong income tax collections, continued ARPA investments, and the incredible work of our grants team, this balanced budget safeguards the long-term financial health of Toledo and continues our investment in neighborhoods, road repair, public safety, and economic development,” said Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz.
The $332.6 million general fund budget will continue to grow the size of public safety forces through a new police class of 45 officers and a new fire class of 30 firefighters, in addition to funding essential city services. The $77.8 million capital fund budget prioritizes investments in road repair, water infrastructure, and city parks.
“As we move forward in 2024 on solid financial footing, we are committed to Toledo’s economic prosperity and growth,” said Mayor Kapsukiewicz. “Thanks to the collaboration of Toledo City Council and members of my administration, I’m confident this budget will provide our residents the best possible return on investment, and produce a tangible impact for those who choose Toledo as a place to live, work, and play.”
