Traffic Pattern Changes on Erie and Michigan Beginning July 19
In line with recommendations from the Downtown Toledo Transportation Plan, the City of Toledo will introduce new traffic patterns downtown on:
- Erie St. (from Jefferson to Cherry)
- Michigan Ave. (from Jackson to Jefferson)
The changes will accomplish several goals, including:
- The addition of more on-street parking
- The addition of a buffered bike lane to create more connectivity through downtown and to the Jefferson Cycle Track
- Reduction of travel lanes to 2
Beginning on July 19, city crews will work block by block to restripe the pavement to indicate the new traffic pattern. Driving lanes will be reduced to 2, and flexipost barriers will be installed between the left-side street parking lane and a new, interior bike lane. Parked cars will be the barrier between bike and car traffic, with the flexiposts reinforcing the parking lane boundary.
Project information and updates will be available on the city's website at toledo.oh.gov/erie-michigan.
