If your home has been slated for demolition, you can still save it.
If your home is on the demolition list and you would like to fix it, the Department of Building and Code Compliance wants to work with you to do just that.
How it works
You receive a notice.
If our city inspectors have determined that your property needs demolished, we will send you a letter. We do not take this lightly. We put houses on our demolition list that have severe structural issues, those properties that have fallen into such disrepair that the conditions have become dangerous.
Our map of scheduled demolitions can help you verify that your house is on the list and when it is likely to be demolished.
Reach out to Code Compliance.
If you would like to save your home (or a home) from the demolition list, you can reach out to Code Compliance. They can help you through the process.
File a contract to renovate and save your home.
Use the Contract to Renovate and Save Your Home to demonstrate that you can repair the property and resolve all code violations within 180 days.
If the property is owner occupied, we will also need a signed affadavit of occupancy.
If you are interesting in purchasing a home on the demolition list, you will need to contact the current owner and work with them toward a sale and/or property transfer.
