Downtown Toledo Transportation Plan Meeting

Thursday, September 19, 2019

The city of Toledo will hold the final public meeting on the Downtown Toledo Transportation Plan, 5:30 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 24 at the SeaGate Convention Centre, room 104.

The Kapszukiewicz administration is seeking public input on the plan, which will take a comprehensive look at the transportation elements downtown and how to enhance economic development and residential space. The plan will examine motor vehicle traffic, pedestrian traffic, public transit, and biking. Mannik & Smith Group Inc., a local engineering firm, was awarded a $249,488 contract to evaluate the existing traffic flow and future proposed traffic patterns while accounting for pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users to enhance development potential downtown.

“The Downtown Transportation Plan will help us develop an all-inclusive vision for a more complete and integrated transportation system that meets the needs for all travelers,” said Stephanie Bartlett, Professional Engineer for the city’s Division of Transportation. “We plan to develop a plan to account for changes happening downtown while maintaining an efficient street network and encouraging transit use, walking, and cycling.”

Free valet bike parking will be provided by “We Are Traffic” next to the Seagate Center entrance at Jefferson and St. Clair near the meeting room.
