Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz Visits COVID-19 Testing Site

Tuesday, May 12, 2020

Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz visited the community COVID-19 testing site at Navarre Park Family Care Center, 1020 Varland Ave., today to encourage people showing symptoms to seek testing. He was joined by Neighborhood Health Association Chief Medical Officer Dr. Khalida Durrani and Chief Compliance Officer Shane Douglas.

“We want to show people what to expect when they come to this site and the other testing sites, and who should be tested,”
MayorKapszukiewicz said. “Testing is important for several reasons, including the need for the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department to conduct contact tracing and other predictive health needs of our community.”

Testing details can be found at https://lucascountyhealth.com/coronavirusupdates/ under “Community Testing.”

“The testing is free, bilingual services are available, and an appointment is required,” Mayor Kapszukiewicz said.

The mayor also reminded residents that Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s stay-at-home order is in place through May 29.

“Please act responsibly during the reopening of the economy, including retail,” he said. “Using a cloth face covering is strongly
encouraged, and social distancing is still vital.”

Dr. Eric Zgodzinski, Toledo-Lucas County Health Commissioner, also urged people to take continued precautions against COVID-19.

“I am grateful for the constant support of Mayor Kapszukiewicz through all of our pandemic response efforts, including COVID-19 testing by Neighborhood Health Association,” Dr. Zgodzinski said. “Doni Miller and her staff have done an outstanding job, testing Lucas County's most vulnerable population. The health department looks forward to our continued partnership with NHA while working to protect those in our community.”
